“Chalk It Up!”
“Chalk It Up!” began with 3 children drawing in front of their mother’s store. It blossomed into one of the most beloved and endearing events that our town has to offer. Celebrating the 28th Annual “Chalk It Up!” in July 2024, it is a unique way to experience beautiful downtown Hendersonville, N.C. 150 artists of all ages draw for prizes and fun in this great contest designed to promote Hendersonville as “a city with a heart for art”.
Chalk artists came together to create a 32 foot mural to celebrate the upcoming chalk art contest known as "Chalk It Up!" in front of the historic courthouse in beautiful downtown Hendersonville. The mural depicts all the wonderful aspects of this quaint town in the western North Carolina mountains. Narnia Studios, one of the oldest shops on Main Street, began this event two decades ago and it continues to be the "crown jewel" of all the city's many events.
