Fledgling

Faltering
until a gust lifts it higher
like a dry leaf
seeking, turning
on flowing layers of air currents.

Pent up spirit
pulling, tugging to be free
reaching for clouds
searching for liberation.

Swinging and dipping
In the ocean of air
over tree tops
and electric wires
daring the wind.

Sucked into a final spiral
plunging in a sudden
down draft
a mighty kite flight ends.
